The GALEX/S4G Galaxies Surface Brightness Contours Explorer DEMO web-app

created by Alexandre Y. K. Bouquin, using the JS9 API (created by Eric Mandel and Alexey Vikhlinin, at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics).
This demo web-app was made with the intent to showcase the ease of use of JS9 ("DS9 in a browser") to view/show FITS files and to construct quick web-applications. Here, JS9 is used as a viewer for the GALEX/S4G sample (Bouquin et al., 2018, ApJS, 234, 18) overlaying some pre-measured (i.e. loading from a file) contour lines. Some custom buttons and javascript functions have been added for our purpose (the contour buttons and the galaxy name search text field). The user is free to explore some of the other capabilities JS9 has to offer but is recommended to do so on the JS9 official page for the full experience.

Search another galaxy:
e.g.: ESO, IC, NGC, PGC, UGC
Add xx% of enclosed IR (3.6 µm) light contours
(independently measured from Spitzer/IRAC1 images),
on top of the GALEX image
Change image:

Add NUV/FUV isophotal Surface Brightness contours
