Ma. Carmen ELICHE MORAL is a Consolider-GTC Postdoc at Departamento de Astrofísica y CC. de la Atmósfera of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
She obtained her B.S. degree in Physics (orientation: Astrophysics) at the Universidad de La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain) in 2001, having studied the first cycle of the degree in the Universidad de Granada (Spain). Between 2001-2006, she developed her PhD thesis in the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, under the supervision of Drs. Marc Balcells and Mercedes Prieto.
From 2007, she has been working in the Departamento de Astrofísica y CC. de la Atmósfera of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, firstly as a postdoctoral researcher contracted by the ASTRID project, from January/2008 to Ocober/2008 as a visiting proffesor, and now is a postdoctoral researcher of the Consolider-GTC project.
She is working in the development of the data reduction pipeline for FRIDA, one of the second-generation instruments of the 10m telescope GTC, and the first to work with its adaptative optics system. FRIDA will offer diffraction-limited imaging and integral-field spectroscopy in NIR.
Her research is centered on Extragalactic Astrophysics. In particular, she is interested in the role of galaxy mergers in galactic formation and evolution.
