Cities at Night citizen science project
Among the research on light pollution by the GUAIX group, we have recently launch the website www.citiesatnight.org which holds the first atlas of night time ISS images. This is a citizen science project leaded by UCM people.
- Dark Skies of ISS - This is the most simple web app that helps to clasificate the images.
- Night Cities - Another web app to georeference cities (medium dificulty).
- Lost at Night - The purpose of this application is to locate images whose position is unknown. It is the most difficult of the three.
The website of the project has been translated into 13 languages and counts on other agencies and organizations contribution, such as MediaLab-Prado, the Spanish Network for Research in Light Pollution, the Crowdcrafting website, the European research network “Loss of the Night”, the Celfosc association and the AstroMadrid network.
