SAR Príncipe de Asturias was a witness of the Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC) first light, at Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma island). Tycho 1205081, near the Polar star, was the first star observed. GTC was aimed also to the galaxy UGC 10923.

We offer some pictures of the telescope (with some of the segments of its primary mirror), of the dome, and of people attendind the oppening session.
