II General Meeting of the ASTRID Project at the CAB
The II General Meeting of the ASTRID project was held last February 18th, at the Centro de Astrobiología (CAB), in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid). Thirty five scientists of seven different research institutions from Madrid attended to the meeting, as well as several agents from private partners associated to the ASTRID project. The goals of the meeting were to inform to the project members about all the activities developed in the project, and to identify and start new collaboration lines between the different research groups involved in the project.
ASTRID project is aimed to coordinate the activities of a group with scientific and technological capabilities, composed of personnel from different institutions ( Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-CSIC, Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial-INTA, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid-UAM, Universidad Complutense de Madrid-UCM, Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia-UNED, and European Space Astronomy Centre-ESAC), with the participation of the aerospace industries located in the Madrid area. Our group is highly involved in ASTRID, as we are working on several instrumentation projects related to the development and exploitation of astronomical instrumentation for large facilities. From the UCM, Jesús Gallego (General Co-ordinator of the Project), Marta Abelleira (Project Manager), Armando Gil de Paz (Coordinator of the ASTRID Extragalactic Group activities), and Carmen Eliche (ASTRID Postdoc) presented oral contributions on their activities for the project.
