We invite applications for a pre-doctoral fellowship funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology for carrying out the Ph.D. at the UCM Group of Extragalactic Astrophysics and Astronomical Instrumentation.

The successful candidate will work on the development of a self-consistent model of the emission from stellar populations and interstellar dust in galaxies that will be applied to the multi-wavelength photometry data of distant extragalactic sources obtained with different ground-based (Keck, Subaru, GTC) and space-based (Hubble, GALEX, Spitzer, Herschel) telescopes. He/she will have access to the telescopes in La Palma (including GTC), Calar Alto, and ESO.

The grant is available for 4 years with a net montly salary of 1100 euros and will start in Sept./Oct. 2008. Applicants must have a Diploma in Physics at the time of the application.
