Allocated observing time with VLT/SINFONI
By jaz - Posted on July 4th, 2008
Observing time with the NIR integral-field spectrograph SINFONI at the
VLT has been assigned to GUAIX for period 82. The proposal will be centered in the
study of the structural properties and stellar populations of the
galactic subcomponents within star-forming galaxies at redshift z~1.
SINFONI can simultaneously produce very sharp images and highly resolved spectra in 2-D spatial
dimensions of an object on the sky. The SINFONI data will provide with morphological and kinematic diagnostics, as well as information about the stellar populations and star formation rates of star-forming galaxies at z~ 1. In the image, one of the starburst galaxies at z~ 1 selected for the project.
