"The AGN-starburst connection conference" in Shanghai

The Shanghai Normal University hosted "The Starburst-AGN connection conference", attended by more than 100 astronomers from all around the world, including the GUAIX member Pablo G. Pérez-González.

Pablo presented his research about the assembly of stellar mass in galaxies in the last 12 Gyr (90% of the age of the Universe) and the role of Active Galactic Nuclei in the evolution of galaxies.

Participation in ADASS'09

The Astronomical Data Analysis Software and Systems (ADASS) conference has been held this year in Québec.

GUAIX has been represented in this conference with the participation of Nicolás Cardiel, who has presented a poster entitled "Upper and lower boundary fitting through a generalized Least Squares Method". This work explains how to determine the upper and/or the lower boundary of a given data set using polynomial fits.

arXiv:0811.3104: Barro et al. A new paper published by GUAIX astronomers

A new paper produced by the GUAIX astronomers has been acepted for publication. The collaboration is part of the GOYA project and uses the UCM Rainbow database to tackle the extragalactic number counts in the K band of the Groth Strip.
